Yellow Brick Games is hiring a game designer to join our team of experienced developers working on an exciting new IP. In this role, you will work closely with engineers, animators, level designers and our game director to create enemies that challenges our players and foster engaging gameplay experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage our core game mechanics and systems to design a roster of enemy archetypes.  These enemies should be highly replay-able and reward skillful play.
  • Alongside other team members implement these archetypes from prototype to polish form.
  • With the help of other team members, setup an efficient production process for implementing and balancing enemy archetypes.
  • Collaborate with our game director to design and implement character progression systems that feed the combat experience.
  • Partner with the rest of the gameplay team to ensure deep interaction between player abilities, environments, and enemies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a game designer and taking games from concept to completion.
  • At least one shipped AAA or AA title in the PC or console space.
  • Experience and passion for designing combat challenges in action-rpgs.
  • Comfortable prototyping in Unreal Engine.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Self-sufficient and resourceful; able to identify and work with technical constraints.
  • Experience using AI planners (e.g. HTN), a plus.
